Freddie Discography

1984 -- Metropolis (soundtrack)

Soundtrack available on LP and CD. Video also available.

1985 -- Teachers (soundtrack)

Soundtrack available on LP. Video presumably available, even if only ex-rental. Features "Foolin' Around", supposedly a slightly different version to the album.

1985 -- Mr Bad Guy

Dutch LP has name of album written in a different style. First Japanese release had four colour prints. Spanish subtitled version in the usual countries. Portuguese subtitled version from Brazil. UK, French and Japanese CD has three bonus tracks (which are extra extended versions). UK cassette has one extended version in place of the normal version.

A video EP was released in some countries.

1986 -- Time (soundtrack)

Available on LP, including limited edition with Hologram cover. No CD release. No video release (it was a stage play, not a film). Tickets and programmes of the show can be found.

The most interesting variant to the special ticket and program is for the special gala night of the show at the Dominion Theatre in 14/4/88. This show, entitled "Give Time For AIDS", featured Freddie and Cliff Richard singing some of the songs ("Born To Rock'n'Roll", "In My Defence", "It's In Every One Of Us"). It was the last time Freddie ever gave a live public performance. He is shown in the programme, and there is a message of support from the rest of the band.

Also features songs In My Defence and Time (reprise) which were not released as singles at the time (though In My Defence was later)

1986 -- Zabou (soundtrack)

Soundtrack to German film, released only in Germany. Available on LP. A CD has been seen - this could be a promo item. Video also available. There are two different sleeves available. The regular issue has the regular sleeve, there is also a record club repressing which has had some of the writing removed from the cover (it is easy to see where, as it wasn't done very well).

Contains one song "Hold On" which is a duet with Jo Dare (she is the one dressed as a cat in the Living On My Own video). The song's part in the film is so insignificant as to make its inclusion on the soundtrack rather dubious. It is playing in the background *very* quietly during one scene.

1987 -- The Great Pretender / Exercises In Free Love (Freddie version)

Released in most countries (not USA)
12" with extended version available in Europe.
Videosingle released in some countries.
UK promo 10" in black die-cut sleeve released.
Shaped picture disc released in UK (uncut versions exist). The disc was shaped like an old-fashioned radio, and some versions had a plinth to make it stand up.
Standard picture sleeve in all countries.

Rereleased 1992 in new sleeve (see section for "The Freddie Mercury Album")

Rereleased in Hong Kong in 1993ish with 12" clear vinyl and 12" black vinyl. Both of these had oversized central picture labels. The b-side was "It's A Sin" by the Pet Shop Boys.

1988 -- Barcelona

Released in most countries (not USA) on CD only in Japan. Original release had a white bordered gatefold sleeve while 1992 rerelease had a gatefold sleeve with a scene from the Barcelona video (both LP and CD have these forms). The rerelease was issued in USA, but not in Japan.

A video EP was released.

1992 -- The Freddie Mercury Album

Released as LP in UK, Germany, Greece and maybe a few others. Released as CD in all countries (called "The Great Pretender" in USA and Canada, and with a different sleeve and a few changes to the track listing). UK limited edition box set with five colour prints

1993 -- Freddie Mercury Remixes

Released in most countries (not UK, USA, Canada). Horrible. Although it was not releasen on vinyl and was not released in the UK, there is a UK vinyl pressing in existence, which is very a very strange thing.
